About Us

Kalen Benakafil was founded by Dawit Ayenew. He graduated from the University of Gondar in 2005. After graduation Dawit moved to Addis Ababa, worked for Mekedonia Home for the Elderly and Mentally Disabled for three years and afterwards, two years for Amanuel Hospital as a volunteer. He returned to Gondar having acquired years of experience. Upon his return, Dawit joined Gondar University Hospital’s Mental Health department and worked as a counselor. In addition to counseling, he started to volunteer his time and expertise to give care for those who had no one to care for them. It lead to the formation of Kalen Benakafil in 2010.

Since the formation, Kalen Benakafil has been helping Gondar’s most vulnerable.
